Gallery and Sallis Benney Theatre

Located on Grand Parade in the centre of Brighton, just a few minutes walk from the seafront and city centre, the Sallis Benney Theatre and University of Brighton Gallery complex provides a unique and adaptable series of spaces, which play host to an exciting annual programme of events and exhibitions.

Alongside live music, dance, comedy and theatre, the Sallis Benney Theatre programme features a variety of public lectures, conferences, symposiums and festivals. The venue accommodates productions from the annual Brighton Festival and film screenings as part of the Brighton Film Festival (CINECITY) as well as talks by internationally renowned designers and artists and sell-out addresses by visiting and faculty lecturers.

The University of Brighton Gallery hosts an exciting selection of exhibitions throughout the year and has recently seen major retrospectives of William Kentridge and Bernard Schottlander. The gallery also provides spaces for arts faculty student coursework exhibitions throughout the year, culminating in the annual [Burt Brill & Cardens] Graduate Degree Shows, taking place annually in June. In 2009, the University of Brighton Gallery was the venue for a major exhibition of successes at the Faculty of Arts & Architecture, which celebrated 150 years since its foundation as Brighton School of Art.
